Maximize Your Hyatt Points: Stay at the Grand Reserve Resort

Spacious, Relaxing, and a Great Points Redemption for Families

Our family of five recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish — with a few unexpected twists that actually made our stay even better.

One of the things we loved most about the resort was how open and airy it felt. The entire property is beautifully spread out, with wide walkways, tropical landscaping, and plenty of space to breathe — nothing felt cramped or crowded. Whether we were walking to the pool, exploring the grounds, or just relaxing outside our villa, there was a constant sense of calm and openness that really added to the vacation vibe. It never felt like we were on top of other guests, which is a huge bonus when traveling with kids.

We booked a 2 Queen room using 60,000 Hyatt points for 3 nights, which felt like an excellent redemption for a beachfront resort of this level. Before arriving, I was told by the hotel over the phone that our room would include a pullout sofa to fit all five of us, and the front desk confirmed it again when we checked in. However, when we got to the room, there was no sofa bed.

Thankfully, the staff quickly resolved the issue by upgrading us to a villa, and it turned out to be a huge win. The extra space was amazing for our family, and it made the whole stay more comfortable and relaxed. The resort layout is expansive and never felt crowded, which we loved — especially when traveling with kids.

The pools were definitely the highlight — large, clean, and perfect for both kids and adults. We spent most of our time there and never had trouble finding space to lounge or play. The resort is also right on the beach, which made for great views and peaceful walks, though the water did have a lot of seaweed during our stay, so it wasn’t great for swimming. Still, the beach was beautiful, and the setting was super relaxing.

While there are several restaurants on-site, we actually didn’t dine at them. Instead, we grabbed breakfast from the market most mornings (which was super convenient), and ordered room service for dinner a few nights, which worked great for our family. One night, we reserved one of the Topgolf Swing Suites, and it ended up being a really fun evening — we played games and ordered dinner from the bar there, which was a nice change of pace and something different for the kids.

Some of the best amenities offered by the resort include:

  • Free use of kayaks and SUPs
  • Dedicated kids play area for little ones
  • Top Golf Swing Suites
  • Beachfront location
  • Complimentary use of bikes
  • Bonfire nights
  • 4 pools

Overall, the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve offered amazing value for our points stay. Between the villa upgrade, family-friendly layout, incredible pools, and beautiful setting, it was exactly the kind of laid-back getaway we needed.

We’d absolutely stay again — especially as a family. It’s a great place to unwind, enjoy the beauty of Puerto Rico, and stretch your Hyatt points for a stay that feels far more luxurious than what you’d expect for the cost.
